Hector, one of the Seven Magi

The Seven Magi (ゴートの七賢 Gōto no shichiken?, Seven Wise Men of Gott) are god-like humanoids who act as the proxies to the Gods in Riviera - The Promised Land. In the gods' absence, they now have complete sovereignty over the realm of Asgard.

Profile[]

Website description[]

Translated from the defunct official Japanese site for the series.

  • The Seven Magi who govern Asgard were originally of the major (and the only humanoid) race of Asgard. Much like all living creatures, they possessed desire and emotion. For this reason, a struggle to gain supremacy and achieve transcendence has been going on in secret among the Magi. In some episodes, the Magus Hector is seen working his schemes, which suggests an even greater plan in the works.

Dept. Heaven Episode World Guidance[]

  • Deputies of the Gods and the successors to their last will. They are the supreme among the high powers governing Asgard. Contrary to the Gods, they are humanoids who possess emotions and cravings of their own.

Story[]

1000 years after the War of Ragnarok, concerned by the demons' return, the Magi decide to call on the power hidden within Riviera and activate Retribution.

The only Magus that is actually a character so far is Hector, the main antagonist of Riviera: The Promised Land. In the PSP version of Yggdra Union, they are mentioned by the Asgard Servant and High Servant.

Abilities[]

  • Teleportation within Asgard's borders
  • Object transmutation
  • Power infusion
  • Energy manipulation

"Spoiler contents withheld. Reader may reveal them at their own discretion."

A Magus is powerful enough to craft an imperfect Diviner of their own or to transform a person into a Grim Angel, although the method is flawed and the result is far inferior to the Gods' original creations. In the Malice: Leaving the Past Behind chapter of the Epilogue Disc, it is explained that Hector lost 1131 test subjects before succeeding. It is implied very few can endure and survive the procedure, which at best leaves the subject mentally scarred and unstable, as seen with Malice and Primea.

"End of spoilers."

Not much else is known about them, but the cloaks they wear supposedly elongate their lifespans so that they may live for eons. Though they can live indefinitely, they can still be killed by a more powerful foe, so they are not immortal.
